Design is the intent behind the outcome, so be intentional.
Each step should be connected to the previous one and provide a reason why the next one is needed. My design process is driven by 4 main things: empathy, mindfulness, neuroscience, aesthetics.
1.
Define the Requirements
When initiating a project, my initial focus is on outlining overarching business objectives, project requirements, and comprehending deliverables, timelines, and expectations. Maintaining alignment within the team is crucial. During this phase, I prefer to document my hypotheses regarding potential challenges.
2.
Discover the Issues
In this stage, I gather insights through conversations, research, and exploration to delve into the problem space. I review user reports and analyze the product's evolution. If formal user research isn't feasible, I opt for ad hoc guerrilla interviews to inform design decisions effectively.
3.
Interpret the Results
In the interpretation phase, I clarify user needs and pain points, creating or refining personas, journey maps, storyboards, and problem statements. Here, I establish goals and success metrics, paving the way for valuable insights.
4.
Ideate over solutions
The ideation phase is where creativity thrives! I gather developers, designers, stakeholders, and customer support for brainstorming sessions to generate diverse solutions. Here, I encourage prolific idea generation, prioritizing quantity to fuel innovation.
5.
Prototype
In this phase, I develop the interactive prototype, ranging from a high-fidelity Figma prototype to an interactive website. The level of detail and fidelity is tailored to the stage of the process and specific testing objectives.
6.
Test, iterate and test again
In the last phase, I conduct user testing on the prototype. Testing methods vary from quick guerrilla tests to comprehensive usability sessions. The insights gained guide necessary adjustments and improvements.
